I've just bought a Wii for my son for Christmas. It came with Wii Sports, Wii Sports resort, Up! and Star Wars: Republic Heroes (or something like that) all included in the price (£164 from amazon).

I added Mario Kart and Wii Play (cheaper than buying the extra controller on its own !), along with Blazing Angels (that ones for me as i like flying games). Plus an extra nuchuk and motion plus device to finish the set.

Any other suggestions of games to start off with, particularly something which is going to be fun for everyone over the Christmas period. Bear in mind my son is 5.

Also, is there anything else i'm likely to need which i missed off ?

Never go wrong with any Mario game and of course the Mario vs Sonic (winter or summer)... enjoy!

Indeed, I highly recommend 'Super Mario Galaxy'. The Wii can also play Gamecube games, so you can pick up second-hand games (+ Gamecube controller/ memory card) pretty cheap to play on it as well.
FYI: The Wii has x4 Gamecube controller ports on the top of the unit, along with x2 Memory card slots specifically designed to work with Gamecube games.

Thank's for your replies. I think i'll take the games I have for now, and see which ones he likes the most and go from there. I think there's plenty there for him to be getting on with. The Mario games sound like the ones to consider for the future though.
