I've got this game and played it quite a bit and have to say I think it's a great management sim game. Most of the official critic reviews I've seen have been positive about the game so it has got good feedback. I would say that it is quite an easy game although you can bump up the difficulty if you like and because of it's cartoony visuals/gentle gameplay it is probably aimed at the younger gamer. Having said that, an awful lot of Wii game could be described that way but I think can be enjoyed just as much by the more mature gamer.
Sorry I always forget to type in paragraphs when I review something, lol. The game itself is set in France and sees you as the erstwhile son of the King trying to discover new lands in order to send back food and resources for your people. The story is decent enough and there are some funny cutscenes/conversations in the game but nothing that lasts for five years like in most other games. You spend the majority of your time in a typical Sim City-style scenario (albeit set in 1404) making various buildings and collecting different resources.
You are given plenty of advice throughout the game as to what to do next, which can be annoying but it does settle down somewhat. The controls are very smooth and the Wiimote is the perfect control method for this game on a console outside of a PC's mouse/keyboard. The game's visuals are fantastic and are nice and bright and cheery. The game isn't taxing really but I like that about it as every now and then I like to be able to just dip into a game and while away a couple of hours in a nice, relaxed manner.
So if you're only ever interested in blowing things up or shooting things then this one's definitely not for you. But if you're just after a nice and simple management sim and a break from the usual time-consuming/hardcore game then this is a great alternative. I'd give it 8/10.
