COD: Modern Warfare Coming To Wii

I just read an article over at Digital Spy Gaming - News - 'Modern Warfare' coming to Wii, DS - Digital Spy saying that a port of the game originally released on PS3 and 360 will now be released for the Wii and DS later this year.

The games will be available on the 10th November when Modern Warfare 2 is released. I'm looking forward to this as I really enjoyed COD: World At War and it'll be interesting to see how Modern Warfare handles on the Wii. I'm hoping for online multiplayer with Wii Speak support.

That's potentially good news.

I too enjoyed many hours of fun on COD:WAW on Wii. Of course I could just buy it on 360 but the Wii control system is perfect for this.

Totally agree with you AfxTwn on the Wii speak bit too, could bring the genre up to 350/PS3 levels in terms of gameplay (if not graphics).

I was concerned that after WAW there wasn't much to look forward to in terms of shooters. Conduit seems highly overated in my opinion with only the online play offering anything worthwhile and everyone seemed to munch up the hype surrounding it like an american kid infront of an unguarded bag of Oreo's, despite the fact early screens looked only ok. (Admittedly I too got a bit excited about it, but with a month or two to go it was looking very mediocre.)

Anyway, back to the point, hopefully this will turn out good and even if I do end up getting it on 360 this is something great for the Wii owners to look forward to. Huzzah!

Re: COD: Modern Warfare Coming To Wii

So you really loved The Conduit then Amph? lol Most of the reviews I read of it were that it was quite boring in single player and very repetitive but then I suppose a similar accusation could be levelled at most FPS games. They do all tend to be very similar and over-hyped, especially by the various games magazines/review sites.

Having said that, I can't undertsand whye there aren't loads more on the Wii seeing as it has the perfect control-system for the genre outside of the PC. Even the new RPG-shooters like Fallout 3 (which is fantastic on PC) would be great on the Wii. I guess it must be the lack of the Wii's processing power/graphics capability that is stopping developers from porting to it.

Hopefully when the Wii 2 eventually comes out (I'm thinkinbg that'll be within the next 5 years or so) they will address the graphics/processor issue and we'll be able to get next-gen quality games with the Wii's fantastic control-scheme.

Seeing as Microsoft and Sony are both going to be releasing their motion-sensitive equivalents very soon then Nintendo will have to up the ante in order to maintain market dominance and I think that HD gaming will just push them that little bit further.

I just use the default remote/nunchuk combo and does me fine.

Re: COD: Modern Warfare Coming To Wii

I agree with Amph, while using the zapper is technically using the same functions as the wiimote/nunchuck seperately, it is a little more awkward to use. Because you're in a fixed position, I found that looking around/aiming was a bit hard and I felt much better when just holding the wiimote and nunchuck in seperate hands like with all other games. Although you may want to turn the sensitivity of your remote up or down a bit depending on your preference.

The problem with the graphics in the Conduit isn't that they're not HD. The problem is there's a complete lack of imagination in level design.

On the thread subject however, I think COD MW on Wii is an excellent move. Mostly because it could (Like an early post here says) boost the online community to that of a level from M$ and Sony.

Although, in my opinion Sony has a long way to go before it reaches Live standard which means the hurdle for Nintendo is even higher.
