Wii Sports Sensor/Remote/? Prob

Morning folks,

Recentley acquired a wii console from my cousin and found I have a problem with wii sports. Was working fine at my cousin's, literally playing the week before I bought it, and he's not one to screw me over selling me a duff console!

I've seen similiar posts to this but no definite answer...

I can access wii sports itself on the wii menu, select what sport I want and everything goes through fine until it comes to the actual gameplay. Say I'm playing baseball, the game doesn't register the swing. Bowling, buttons work but there's no swing of the arm and ball. Golf - you can't swing for the ball etc... I've tried a friend's wii sports game and it's the same problem. The other game I have (resident evil) seem's to work fine.

Could it be interference from a house alarm sensor? Don't think it's a dodgey remote, seen as cousin was playing the week before??

Any suggestions would be very welcome.

Thanks.

Re: Wii Sports Sensor/Remote/? Prob

So the only game you're having problems with is Wii Sports, is it the original Sports game or the sequel, Wii Sports: Resort?

Do you have the motion+(the little attachment that comes with the game) attached to the remote? This is one of the few games so far that require the motion+ to be able to play, it won't work without it.

No, I'm referring to the original wii sports game that comes as a bundle.

Thanks

Very odd, can't remember ever hearing anyone having problems like this before. I've known people have issues with other games apart from Wii Sports due to sunlight interfering with the sensor bar/pointer(Wii Sports doesn't use the sensor bar much, hence being not so prone to these issues), this sounds as though it's the motion sensor that's giving you problems.

Have you tried any other games with gestures to see if the motion sensors are working fine within those? You mention Resi4 is fine, which is generally working off the pointer/sensor bar, how about the waggle gesture's within that game such as the running sections etc.?

Re: Wii Sports Sensor/Remote/? Prob

Interesting you say that because the 'waggle' feature to counterattack on resi4 doesn't seem to work (either that or I'm not very good!) But then when I have the pointer on the main wii menu and the game menu, it reacts fine.

I'm going to try a different remote hopefully but, again, i dont think that is the problem as it worked fine with my cousin and the pointer responds.

Sunlight isn't a problem as I've tried playing at night (even with the lights off) and no joy. Also tried covering the burglar alarm sensor in the hope that the sensor from that might be affecting it but no!

Any more suggestions welcome! Thanks!

Re: Wii Sports Sensor/Remote/? Prob

the pointer movement is controller by the sensor bar and the motion controls are controlled by an accelerometer inside the remote. I expect yours is faulty.. have you tried borrowing someone else's remote?

Exactly what I was trying to get at(accelerometer is the word I was looking for rather than motion-sensor), I agree.

Re: Wii Sports Sensor/Remote/? Prob

Thanks for your help guys.

I tried a different remote last night, synced it up and it worked fine.

Originally, i just tried adding a new remote as a two player in wii sports, bad remote player 1, good remote player 2. In the baseball, bad remote didn't do anything when swung, good remote pitched fine. After 3 outs, we change and good remote swings fine and bad remote mysteriously kept pitching, almost automatically without me touching the remote, so there obv is a fault with the bad remote!

Thanks again, first time I've used a forum like this and found it very helpful.
