6.5/10.. Not looking good

I have been hoping for this to re-invigerate my interest in the Wii.. I have tried Virtua Tennis, Grand Slam and Tiger Woods and I am frankly dissapointed wth the WiiMotion+.. BUT.. These arn't my type of game.

I honestly expected WSR to be up there with the best, but 6.5/10?? And some of the reasons they gave look like a genuine miscalculation on the part of Nintendo! Why would they allow a game like this, to have unwanted/badly implimented features?

Not happy!!

Thanks It never occurred to me to look at the official Nintendo site

Re: Wii Sports Resort - discussion thread

I had this on pre order but having read the reviews have decided to cancel. Main reason for pre-ordering was concern about shortages, in particular the motion plus attachement, as sure many will remember how hard it used to be to get an extra wii mote.

Going to spend the money on two motion plus attachments instead as they seem readily available (perhaps due to the low number of MP compatible games at the moment).

Here is a very good review.

Wii Sports Resort review - Telegraph

As long as there are 3 or so decent games, I'll stick with my pre order.

Cant comment on the telegraph but I normally take newspaper game reviews with a pinch of salt. seems to me that they often just read the publisher blurb and make it up....

I've been playing this game today.

Thank god Grand Slam Tennis was a hiccup!

The wii motion plus works properly on this and the 1:1 mapping seems perfect, frisbee is a particular highlight. I'd give it 8/10.

Re: Wii Sports Resort - discussion thread

I managed to get this on Sunday and played it most of the day.

I have to say that its brilliant.. Simply brialliant.. Unfortunatly, when I got my Wii, I had stopped playing games for the past few years (After being a game freek since 1978).. So for me, the Wii was a breath of fresh air...

But after the Wii got me interested again, I have got back into 'gaming' (PS3) and rarely use my Wii these days.. Because of this, I can't see myself playing WSR after a week or so.. But that doesn't detract from the brilliance of it.. If you like your Wii, and still use it, or you want something get back back into using your Wii, this is an absolute gem, which should not be missed!

How are people getting it SOO early?

My gameplay order is in a "preparing for dispatch" state, so it may go out today. But how did people get it for last week?

This game has reignited my interest in the Wii after spending most of my time playing Fifa 2009 on the PS3.

The Frisbee and Table Tennis......especially the Table Tennis, are consuming most of my time so haven't really tried out most of the other activities but have to say that I'm really impressed with the responsiveness of the WM+.

Brilliant game and highly recommended based upon my limited use.

No..it appears not for some strange reason. Maybe use this as a chance to upgrade and get another wiimote etc so you can have more people playing together?

I already have 4 motes but as the Mrs doesn't take any interest, I don't really see the point in getting another motion +. I guess I'll just wait for one to turn up on the classifieds but thanks for the suggestion

Nintendo are only selling it as a bundle and not separately. What you could have done is bought the previous game without the MotionPlus and got Wii Sports Resort with it. As you already have it you could get the game and just sell the MotionPlus adapter here on the classifieds or elsewhere. I'm sure someone will buy it.

Yeah, that occurred to me

I'm in no particular rush for this to be honest so I'll just bide my time for a 2nd hand copy or the inevitable solus edition

I very much doubt there will be a solus version as Wii Sports Resort is the best way for Nintendo to get the MotionPlus in as many Wii owners hands as possible. It's already sold over half a million in Japan and will probably do similar numbers if not more in Europe and North America.

I'm sure there will be a solus version at some stage. Whilst it's going to be the main route to get motion plus out there (and most copies sold will be bundled) there will still be some folk who have bought bundles with the MP device included or the Solus MP device and don't need any more MP devices.

There's certainly a need for a solus version as some folk will be reluctant to buy if they get an extra MP device they don't need and then have to sell etc.

Re: Wii Sports Resort - discussion thread

I agree with the need for a solo version of WSR, I stupidly bought two M+ devices when they came out as they were cheaper on the net but now I've had to buy WSR and will have a 3rd M+ that I don't really need! I can't wait to start playing this tomorrow!

Re: Wii Sports Resort - discussion thread

I played WSR last night and have mixed feelings about it. I receieved my motion pluses and tried out frisbee golf on Tiger woods because I knew how that controlled and I was impressed by the improved control. So I then loaded up WSR and started with table tennis. Good start, very responsive and true 1 to 1.
Other games that impressed me were sword fighting and archery. The ones that didnt impress were jet skiing, basketball and cycling.

I think the problem with WSR is that its great as a family fun entertainment package, but none of the games have any real substance, no real longevity or appeal thats going to drive you to put 8 hours into them like a 360/PS3 game. On the tech side its very impressive and some of the games really show off what the wii motion plus can do but other games are clearly just thrown in so that it has more games on offer.

Definitely worth getting especially if you have a gf/wife or kids.

Re: Wii Sports Resort - discussion thread

Nice heads-up there Pio, I kind of agree with you to some extent but I don't think that Wii Sports was ever really designed to be a game that you would play for 8 hours, to be honest I think even playing a 360/PS3 game for 8 hours is a bit ridiculous unless of course you meant how long it would take on average to complete the game. I like Wii Sports' easy pick up and play for a quick-fix side of things, I would probably class myself as a dreaded casual gamer (lol) as I generally play for a couple of hours each night or every other night (switching between my DS and Wii) and so sometimes it's just nice to use WS as a warm-up game or something to pass the time while I'm waiting to go out or something. As you said, it's a great multiplayer game but I think you're doing it a bit of a disservice by saying it's only really any good for family entertainment. I live on my own and apart from when my friends come round now and again I will mostly play the game alone but I like it's simple controls and like some other games, it doesn't feel like a chore to play it. Sometimes you can play a game for so long that it feels like you have to justify it's hype/what you paid for it by continuing it's endless levels just because you have to, kind of like a long book lol.

The kind people at Play delivered my copy this morning. I'd forgotten what it was like to have Wii shoulder from bowling and to go along with it I've discovered Wii wrist from table tennis. Think I'll go for the more sedate archery tomorrow.

Nice & fun collection of games all in all. I'm more looking forward to seeing what else can be done with MotionPlus now though!

Got mine from shopto yesterday. Add "wii elbow" from the swordplay to that list.

I think I saw int the paper this morning Toys R Us about the cheapest at £37.99, then Blockbuster £39.99 then £42.99 - £44.99 the rest, not sure about the supermarkets though, who may well be cheaper.

I'm loving this game, Table tennis is as addictive as the original wii tennis but with more control. Wakeboarding is fun but the surprise for me is the sword games, absolutely brilliant !!

I have to agree, the more I play table tennis the more I want to play. The rallies are great and so much fun when you are about 10 yards away from the table returning smashes from your opponent.
