Is my motion plus faulty

I am getting increasingly frustrated with Grandslam tennis and I'm beginning to think that the motion plus is faulty. I've watched the videos about holding the controller facing the ceiling and letting it sit flat to reset.
The screen simply does not reflect what I'm doing with the controller and the player often does not even move ( especially left baseline backhands) when I want it to. I've seen a video of a chap swinging his racket from left to right and rolling the racket between his hands.......I can't do either !!!

If you haven't already, it might be worth trying a system update. You need the latest firmware for the motion plus to work properly.

Eurogamer originally gave Grand Slam Tennis a bad review as they had the same problem:

Yep there is a system update option in there, this link is pretty helpful;

| Nintendo - Customer Service | Wii - Wii System Update

In my experience if you need an update, you get prompted by the pulsating blue light but it's certainly worth a try.
