Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

There's a 'reboot' of the first Silent Hill game coming to Wii, which looks absolutely fantastic. Full use of the Wii Remote, fully immersive gui, cellphone voices coming out of the remote, game changes based on psychiatric evaluations you do in flashbacks. Really good graphics for the Wii as well

Re: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

Nice find, this does look awesome!

Silent Hill was one of those games I've always wanted to play but never got round to it. Hopefully they'll make a good fist of being faithful to the original whilst making good use of the wii's features. Using the speaker on the wiimote could be a very nice touch if done well (note to self: remember to turn on wiimote speakers if you get this game).

It does seem a bit risky to call a game that's a remake of an old classic 'Shattered Memories' though!

haha, i think it's a reference to the psychological aspect but i know what you mean

if you watch those 3 videos from E3 you can see a few one sided conversations, and i'm assuming the other side is coming out of the wii remote, which is an awesome idea, providing you can hear it over your speakers!

It looks as if the game will not really stick that closely to the original, apart from the characters involved and a few choice locations. It looks like they've taken ideas from several other great survival horror games like Penumbra and Project Zero and if the whole game is as intense as that short walkthrough was, i will definitely enjoy it

Re: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

I too have been reading lots of previews of this game in the myriad of gaming magazines out there and it looks really good. Silent Hill was one of the more truly scary games out there so this could be a good thing for us Wii owners who are getting a bit sick of cutesy/cash-in-on-any-arm-flailing-activity-involving-kids-in-order-to-pretend-we're-ridding-the-world's-obesity-problems games.

oh, if you saw E3, cutesy/cash-in-on-any-arm-flailing-activity-involving-kids-in-order-to-pretend-we're-ridding-the-world's-obesity-problems 2 is coming out as well

Re: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

The only slighty concern I have is that the original with it's "alternate 'hell' world" was far more creepy than this new version and its' "alternate 'north pole' world".

Apart from that it looks great (should be fantastic with wii controls - the lack of invert look on Silent Hill: Homecoming is REALLY annoying so this one should be like a breath of fresh air ).

Re: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories

yeah i know what you mean about the 'snow'. I expect it's actually meant to be ash which there was plenty of in the original. This is only the first few mins of the game though, i expect the rusty steel will make an appearance otherwise it just won't be Silent Hill!
