Which headset for voip?
I need to get a headset for voip. Does it matter much what I go for? Any recommendations?

It doen't matter hugely, but Plantronics are excellent quality and are used by many businesses. If you are planning on using VOIP more frequently, I suggest you get an ATA or SIP phone that you can use even without the computer switched on.

I second that fully...I started off with a headset on the PC....But very quickly went to a (several actually) SIP phones....
Alternatively you could just use your bluetooth headset for your mobile phone if you have one...

Is it possible to use a bluetooth headset to make a VOIP call via an asterisk server? How would you dial the phone number? Can you initiate a VOIP call from a bluetooth enabled phone via asterisk and then transfer the call to a headset?
That would be cool/neat/rather smart/splendid.
If you could make a call via bluetooth then it would follow that you could receive one too. The range on my bluetooth phone using a belkin bluetooth adapter is quite impressive so that would mean I'd be able to pick up calls via my mobile using bluetooth. Neat.

Now you know why I recommended the Linksys WRT54GS in the other post ;-) I've actually got two...One for my normal Internet router, another one for playing around with things like Openwrt and Sveasoft who also are building a SIP server for the Linksys router....
But for general use I've got my normal Asterisk server....
The link you posted is interesting, though a bit complicated I would say....You can just use a normal SIP client on the PC or MAX or Linux and use the bluetooth headset...Though if I read it correct, the solution posted above would allow you to initiate calls via the Headset.....Would be great if you can set it to voice dial...

I understand the toy factor, I am always guilty of that...But what is the relevance to a headset? And especially one of those nasty phone camera's ;-)

It supports WiFi so I'm wondering if I could use voip over the wifi connection when at home rather than having to have a PC switched on

What VOIP software can you get that runs on an XDA? I've heard of X-Lite, is there anything else that runs on an XDA? Or any other PDA for that matter?
You can install Linux on an Ipaq so maybe you could get Asterisk running on an Ipaq. If you could have both a WiFi adapter and a bluetooth adapter working too you'd have a handsfree PBX in your pocket.
