Installation fee down to £75

This may already be common knowledge however i only found out yesterday. The £150 installation fee will be £75 from Friday.
I have not seen anything about this anywhere else and i only found out myself when i rang up to order it yesterday and the bloke on the phone told me to wait until Friday as it would be half the price.

Re: Installation fee down to £75

Standard installation fee for Virgin services was always £30 to my knowledge.

Perhaps he's talking about V+ installation?

crx - which broadband is that (assume M) and how long is the price only 26 a month, 12 months or?

I'd like L broadband, L TV and V+ but don't want to spend more than 30 a month.

Re: Installation fee down to £75

I was just enquiring about having V+ installed with an XL TV and Sky Sports Package after reading this thread and was told that it’s £150 and that there are no deals on the cards for August. The house is already wired for VM as it has BB and phone and used to have TV as well, so you’d think they’d offer a discount! They’re happy for me to do a free self-install of the basic STB but want £150 for the V+. They also wanted to charge me £40 for the TV package versus the normal price of £37.50 because I’m on a retention deal for phone & BB. So if I take more services they want to reduce my savings; a strange way to run a business! I’m probably going with the STB self-install and they’ll end up making less profit from me.

Afaik if you pay the £150 install you pay no rental over the standard XL package, however there is the option to pay £30 installation and £5 a month extra rental.

I very much doubt that.

That’s my understanding also:
XL TV (inc V+) = 19.50
Sky Sports = 18 (it costs more with M or L TV)
Total = £37.50

And they want me to pay £40!

Re: Installation fee down to £75

I just ordered the XL package, as it turns out the fee drops to £75 if you also get another cable box (not a v+ box just a standard one). This still works out slightly cheaper as it costs an extra £5 per month for the second box but the installation fee is only £75, if you cancel the second box in 12 months you save £15 plus you get to use the second box.
Slightly off topic but does anyone know if the standard cable boxes have HDMI or is it just scart?

Re: Installation fee down to £75

I phoned retentions as suggested by the sales team and was offered installation at £75 without even asking. They were puzzled as to why I was told to phone them but they offered a better deal anyway: £34.50 to add XL TV and Sky Sports Package versus £40 from sales plus £150 installation; this is no way to run a company.

So for £54.95 I would then have:

BB – M
Phone – XL
TV – XL + Sky Sports
V+

I think I’m going to go for that especially as there’s only 1 month notice for the TV package so I can drop down to medium TV if I like with the only penalty being paying £5 per month for the V+ box for 12 months.

OK checked this up with VM sales , this option is available if you ask fo the XL+ package, which is the exactly same spec as VIP (inc V+ and second standard box) but without Sky Sports and Movies packages. Fully inclusive rental was £46 for first 6 months and then £56 per month. Installation £30.

Otherwise V+ box is £75 installation from today +£5 pcm or £0 pcm if you have phone BB and XLTV.

Are you sure that price of £56 per month is for the XL+ package? I thought this price was for the Triple XL package and the price for XL+ was £65 a month.

Thats what the man said! (for hypothetical new customer) He did seem a bit confused however! However can only suggest you phone VM sales 0800 955 5353 and see what you can get.
