Capturing SD Content On V+ via USB stick?

Hey All

My dad loves boxing but refuses to subscribe to yet another non-SKY channel after paying for a zillion SKy channels, I however get it free on my VM package.

I out to my tv from the V+ HD reciever via HDMI atm, and wanted to capture these matches for my pa and realising that the V+ has a USB output thought perhaps I could use this:

Just capture the content, plug into the pc and burn to dvd-r.

Anything wrong with that idea?
For example does the V+ recognise these usb capture sticks?

best wishes

Ok, I have subsequently learnt that [typically] the USB port is non-functional due to lack of firmware support.
Is there any way I can capture SD content without resorting to huge dvd-r setup recorders via scart output?

You could use a TV card on a pc to capture it that way.

Hi twobells,

Let me explain how you may capture SD content. Firstly you will need:

A laptop or PC with a DVD burner
A Scart adaptor see here
A Leadtek VC100 U USB Video Capture stick.

Next you will need to record the boxing programme onto the V+ HDD.

Whenever you want to transfer the programme to laptop/PC for burning to DVD. Connect the scart adaptor to the video scart socket on the V+ box and connect the cables that came with the Video capture stick to the adaptor.

If not sure what I am saying, see the quick guide found here.

The rest I will leave to you if you do purchase the video capture stick.

Hope this has helped
