V+

Just spoke to VM about upgrading my current box to V+ but there offer of £75is now over and the new price is £150. Obvioulsy im not very intersted in paying £150 for V+.

My question is can't i just not buy a V+ box from some where else and plug it in or is it a lot more technical than that?

Re: V+

Your Box and subscription card have to be paired together, this requires an engineer call out plus a certain signal being sent down the line.

So the short answer is No.

Re: V+

VM do not "sell" boxes they rent them out as part of your monthly fee or install them on loan for a one off payment (e.g. the £75/£150£ deal). AFAIK they still offer V+ boxes for an additional £5 per month with a £30 installation fee providing you have XL TV.

Buying any VM box is effectively receiving stolen goods.

Re: V+

Wait another 3 months and the £75 offer will be back.

Either do that, or say you want to cancel. When you're with retentions they'll offer you something good!

Re: V+

When I phoned to upgrade a few weeks ago I was told it would cost £150. As soon as I said "no, thank you" the advisor said she'd check if they could still do it for £75. Sure enough, they could. Give it a try - you never know!

Re: V+

Me as well................

I 've been getting XL TV @ £22.00, Sky Movies and Sports @ £25.00, Phone @ £11.00(talk w/e)with caller display @ £1.75, and B?B M. @ £18.00.

Cos I signed up for the 4 for £40 offer (with a free mobile phone whilst stocks lasted) I got a £7.49 discount plus a 'loyalty' reduction as an long term ex Sky user of an extra £21.00 off.

Total being paid was £49.26.

Got a letter at the weekend telling me that I had been paying the wrong amount for B/B ?????????????????

When I rang they told me that the error was in fact on the 4 for 40 discount which has long finished and I will be paying this extra £7.49 p.m. with immediate effect.

I complained bitterly and said I would consider quitting and the girl said OK... do you want me to have you cut off. I said no and rang off. I rang a few minutes later and chose the option on the phone " if you are considering leaving us" and got through to retentions who conformed that my 4 for 40 discount was being wrongly applied and had bee cancelled ( I was still getting the £21). She said that with the size of the remaining discount she could not do any more with the price but was there a service improvement I might be interested in. After some umming and rrring I asked about V+ and was told that it was currently on offer for £75 instead of £150 with no monthly charge for XL TV users but for 'VIP' customers (those spending in excess of £75 pm) there was a special deal @ £30.

I said that I thought that was too expensive given that I had signed up for the 4 for 40 deal without being told it was a time restricted product and my V+ came down by another fiver to £25.

The only bit of misleading info I got was that the lady said that there was the facility to connect 2 HDMI inputs to the V+ to loop through the signal into the one HDMI input on the panel I have. (I doubt this is correct) and that THERE WILL be increases in HD content over the next few months.

If you've got a grievance then go for the discount. If you havn't and you are just after cheap deals its still worth a try. Careful about threatening to quit if you don't mean it. If they say no deal you might get egg on your face.

Tony
