HDMI -> DVI "green sparklies" in picture

I've just had V+ installed and after hooking it up to HDMI (via a HDMI->DVI cable) to my DVI-HDCP plasma, I get a picture but with lots of what can be described as "green sparklies" - random green-pixel noise across the picture AND the V+ menus themselves.

I've had a Panasonic S97 DVD player hooked up to this cable for years playing upscaled (720p) DVDs with no problems so I'm reluctant to blame the cable although I do have to admit, this is the sort of classic issue you get with a dodgy HDMI cable.

Has anyone else experienced this issue - could it be that the tolerance of my existing HDMI-DVI cable is being reached by the V+ box but my DVD player was somehow not pushing it that hard?

I'll try and lay my hands on a better quality (and shorter) cable to double-check that but it would be nice if anyone who's experienced this could chip in.

edit: I've tried a friend's expensive "BettaCables" 2m HDMI->DVI and V+ now works fine so I guess it was my old cable after all. Oh well, time to buy a new cable!
