Hi guys im new to the site i was looking at the Samsung DVD-HR753 and was wondering can it be used to record through virgin tv its a pace box. Done a wee search but can find any info.

If it's a DVD recorder or DVD/HDD recorder then it can record from the pace box. You'll need toconnect it to the second scart socket on the back of the pace box marked VCR.

yeah its a dvd/hd recorder. im taking that you will have to watch what ever your recording and wont be able time different things to record, would i be better off get a v+ box

Yes, it will only record what channel the pace box is tuned to.

I've got the following which I bought in order:

Samsung SH853M ( the 753 is last years model )
LG 32LB75 LCD HD ready TV
V+ box

The V+ wipes th floor with the Samsung in so many ways:

1. Record 2 programmes whilst watching a third. You can even be watching a programme you previously recorded & it will still execute timer recordings.
2. Pause / FF / Rewind live TV
3. Much improved PQ if you have a HD ready TV
4. Faster VirginMedia menus.
5. BBCHD access.
6. Series Record.

The Samsungs suffer from the extreme annoyance that they have to be in stand-by mode or timer recordings won't execute. So you can't be watching a DVD etc.

The V+ only records / playback from its internal HDD, so you'll need a separate DVD player for DVD's.

Take it from a man who has both - get the V+.
