BBCHD sound now reported properly

Just noticed that BBCHD are now sending the correct signal on the sound channel. Before, BBCHD would show up as Dolby Digital on my amp if it was 5.1 or 2.0.

Now I can see on my amp that 5.1 broadcasts show up as DD and 2.0 broadcasts show up as DD Stereo.

The only problem left for BBC is why they continue to show some movies in 2.0 instead of 5.1, e.g. Kill Bill 1 last Friday was broadcast in Stereo instead of 5.1.

No idea why BBC does this. At first I thought it was because Kill Bill was simulcast on BBC1, but then so was Wimbledon and Euro2008 and those programs were correcly broadcast in amazing 5.1 glory.

Did you notice a jump in the sound between it?

I watched Bonekickers at a reasonable level then when it finished and kicked off some ad for a new programme I nearly got blown away...

Yeah - now you mention it - the volume jumped up when a program in 2.0 Stereo changed to 5.1 advert. So that is something else BBCHD need to sort out!
