used v+ box

can anyone advise on a question i have, my brother has a v+ box which he has given to me, i live in northern ireland and he in england, i already subscribe to the v+ sevice here, would i be able to split the cable and run a second box beside the original one and use an av sender to get v+ upstairs? any suggestions as to legality and tech stuff would be appreciated, otherwise i may as well buy new box for £100 one off payment and let VM sort it out. thanks in anticipation, weebill

hi, i think you'll find the cable boxes are actually 'rented' from Virgin, be careful as your 'new' box is not actually yours. Also the installation fee is just that- a fee to install, not a price for the box.

hi, thanks for that, i suspected as much, does anyone know if it would work though as my brother tried to give it back to VM but they wouldn't take it

I doubt it if the V+ will even work, as your area frequency will be totally different from your bro's.

Isn't it strange how new posters come along with stories of V+ boxes given to them by friends and family and wanting to know how to get it to work?

it may be strange but it was a genuine question fyi i will be returning the box to my brother and getting one from VM. i was utterly unaware of the legal implications. thanks for being so understanding NOT!

I apologise if I have caused offence. It should be standard practice to search a forum for similar threads which may already answer your questions prior to posting a new thread.
