Virgin email pop3 timeout

Virgin email pop3 timeout

IS anybody else having problems at the moment retrieving emails via
outlook or outlook express? I keep getting a timeout pop3 error when
downloading my emails. Been like it know for a few days, am able to
retrieve some if I keep hitting send and receive but then just seems to give
up.

I'm running windows XP with the latest AVG. I've tried switching
of email scanning which didn't help, I even uninstalled AVG last night, and I
still got the timeout error.

I can get my email through virgin’s web mail viewer, but I’d still like to fix
the problem

Can anybody help.?

How many messages do you have on your webmail, and do any of them have large attachments?

You may find if you delete some of the un-needed messages it resolves the problem.

Cheers Darren, tried that, and left just a returned message from a friend
to download with no attachments and it timed out retrieving that, couldn't
have been more than a few kb.

I have also been having similar problems on an intermittent basis. Where are you ? I am on the old Cambridge Cable system.

I believe Virgin to be having a problem at the moment. Some people are unable to access webmail and POP email is very slow and can timeout.

They are looking into the issue, I would suggest ringing them and advise that you are having an issue so they can have a look into your issues.

I've got the same issue, Office XP Outlook.... Really annoying as you get all the messages already retreived before it failed again!
