telewest via scaler

hi im looking to buy a toshiba 37wl66 but ive heard that my telewest (normal not hd) may look crap on it would it be worth running my cable box through my scaler so i can input telewest as 720p directly into the toshiba? and would it make any difference?

has anybody got a similar set up running at the mo if so any thoughts?
