Svhs -v- Component for Ntl Box

Hi , i'm wondering what to do with this , i've got a z4 , all the ports on the back are full , both component , hdmi ,vga , svhs.......but.

I've recently hooked up my ntl box to my harddrive Liteon dvd recorder model 5045 , great piece of kit , i've gone ntl box rgb into liteon 5045 then svhs to my projector , due to both component ports been used by xbox 1 and ps2, but i don't use my xbox or ps2 as much these days , due to the 360 and pc etc , sooooooo my main question is , is it worth using a component cable on the dvd recorder , which is basically used for tv and not playing dvds , will i notice much difference going from svhs to component , but not forgetting that the main input is a ntl digital box via scart rgb............ is it worth the extra expenses? or is svhs as good as it needs to be for ntl digital...... i don't currently have a suitable lenghted component cable at present , so i would need to buy , is it worth the extra expense?!?!?!?!!?

Any advice welcome.....other than

I've got a similar setup to you, except that I use my SVHS recorder to convert the RGB signal to S-Video, and I don't have the component option! However, I'm not sure if you'd see much of an improvement, as the source signal can be rather poor. The best thing I can think of would be to buy a component cable from somewhere that has a good returns policy (Maplin are good in that respect) and try it out.

without a shadow of a doubt you would see an improvement if you use component over svhs

Don't discount SVideo too quickly, it can produce an excelent signal with the right setup

But Component and RGB are considered above SVideo on terms of quality in the mainstream.

Agreed.

A friend of mine wanted to pump Freeview into his shiny new projector so went to the expense of buying an RGB-YUV converter and some quality component cables only to discover that the difference was marginal. A bit of a suprise for both of us.

Believe your eyes, not necessarily what you read here.

Sweetspot capture card HTPC on 92" PJ at desktop res 720p.

Sky-svid

Freeview-RGB

Worth the trouble? S-videos a bit softer and the freeview has a higher bitrate. I dunno.
