TVDrive Sata Connection

Heard a rumour today that the Sata connection is not actually disabled and using a Sata connector its possible for a windows machine to see the harddisk inside TVDrive. Of course it cannot understand the file system, but it recognises the drive none-the-less. Got me wondering if TVDrive would auto-detect any extra storage made available via a harddrive connected via the Sata connection.

Has anyone got the means to put this rumour to the test..?

A pretty reliable source and I'd give further details if I hadn't been a daft and used my real name as my forum ID

Perhaps the Sata drive your connecting needs to be in a certain format , like fat 32 or whateaver ?

I dont have a sata drive yet so I am just guessing

It would be fantastic if we could just plug in an extra drive , we need more space for HD content .

Not trying to make out you're simple or anything but you did have it connected to a PSU at the time?

I think it was mentioned somewhere here before that the TVDrive is fitted with an anti-tamper switch but a Telewest engineer had no idea about this when he visited me recently (I actually asked him if that could be the fault).

160Gb is not enough for HD and I'm still toying with the idea of a storage upgrade either via the maybe enabled SATA connection or Sky+ stylee - but after the World Cup obviously!

Sata test

Yes I had the drive attached to a power supply. Would also have expected an indication if the format was incorrect.
Has anyone managed to get a sata drive working?
