Telewest TVD and DVD recorder issues with Sony HDTV

I'm hoping some one can help with what seems like connections issues.

I had the Telewest TVDrive for a month connected to my Panasonic DVDRecorder and Hitachi CRT SD TV. All worked fine and I could record from TVD to DVDR to archive programmes I wanted to keep, by recording through channel 6 or AV2 on my DVDR which were set to TVD.
I just bought a HDTV Sony Bravia, which is now connected to TVD with HDMI and the original scarts. When I connected up the TV, the DVDR rest itself and I lost channel 6 (TVD) and it won't see it now. I can only get TVD on AV2 of DVDR and the picture is terrible( broken into horizontal lines). Also I can only record that picture on the screen to DVDR and if I bring up the DVDR menu or change channels it just records all that stuff. It didn't before.
My connections are this:
TVD top scart to TV AV1
TVD bottom scart to DVDR AV2
DVDR AV1 to TV AV2

The only difference is that on the CRT TV the TVD was connected to TV AV2 and DVDR was AV1.
I only changed as new TV instructions were to do it this way.
I have tried changing TV AVs around but it made no difference.
I have unplugged HDMI and changed TVD drive back to widescreen in display settings but again no difference.

There is a setting on the new TV for "AV2 output" which I can choose either, TV(outputs broadcast), AV1(outputs signal from equipment attached to AV1), AV5(same but AV5) or auto( whatever on screen). I thought maybe this had something to do with it but I can't see it.

It's just weird that the DVDR is not seeing the TVD directly.

I am no expert on these issues and the difference in RGB scarts and all that stuff. I tend to follow diagrams and instruction books, so an idiot's guide is appreciated!!

I have posted similar elsewhere so apologies if you read twice!!

Any expert's?
Thanks

TVDrive

If you have HDMI output selected on the TVdrive, the scart outputs are disabled, its all to do with HDCP (high definition copyright protection), so your DVDR wont see anything from the VCR scart on the TV drive.

If you select - Copy to VCR - from the TVdrive menu that should allow you to archive recorded material.

but thats all.

hope this helps

If youve got HDMI enabled you get the dodgy vertically blocked pictue through scart thats mentioned above.

Thanks guys. I have tried this and I guess it's Ok. The picture quality when copied is better but still not brilliant.

Thanks again
