PWD8 and TVDrive

Can you help Hornydragon? I simply cannot put up any longer with being unable to alter the aspect setting via HDMI. I paid for a 42" Plasma not a letterboxed screen on 4:3 transmissions. Any alternative views for connecting the TVDrive to the screen other than by HDMI which will allow me to stretch the picture as I did very successfully before. Much obliged for anyone's condideration of my problem.

By letterboxed do you mean horizontal black bars at each side? With which channels is this a common feature?

I ask because I'm going for the same set-up

Cheers.

have you tried with component? HDMI is designed for HDTV which is all WIDESCREEN 4:3 is not HDTV standard

ARe youexperiencing 4:3 that has black bars down either side? (this isnt letter boxing) or black bars top and bottom? (this is letterboxing?) Displaying all material in "fullscreen" is not what the screen is supposed to do its supposed to show it as it was intended not all stretched to fill the available area but designed to fill the largest area iut can while mantaining the aspect or propeortions of the picture, in short 4:3 should have bars either side

Bars at each side of the screen are simply unacceptable to me. My picture on the pwd8 was marvellous with the old Telewest box connected by Scart. Hornydragon, can you explain the component set up to me? I see that there is component output from the TV Drive but where do I put it on the screen? Thanking you in anticipation.

you put them into a component input (either the component board or VGA input with adapter cable)

and your anger should be directed at telewest (there is ahuge thread on teh subject)

Could I just use Scart? I have tried to connect this way just now but can't seem to get a picture. If I take out the HDMI cable will Scart work?
