How many scart sockets has your TV/DVD/VCR/NTL. And which are RGB.

The RGB from the DVD should go into the RGB TV socket for the best picture. Your NTL box will have a RGB output which should also go into the TV RGB socket. You may have to get a scart switching box if you only have one RGB socket on the TV or have to keep switching the NTL/DVD scart.

Unless your VCR has a scart input, you feed a scart out from the NTL box aux scart into the VCR to record from and then you can feed another scart from the VCR into your TV spare scart(if it has one) so you can see the video playback.
