Viewing normal TV through TVDrive

I have just had TVDrive fitted today and have to admit I am a little disappointed with the quality of normal tv viewing it with either scart or HDMI cable..........

I certainly had a better picture through my Freeview box.

Anyone any advice as to how to improve the picture....or is this as good as it gets at the moment?

TV is Toshiba 32WL56.

I agree that cable PQ is not as good as Sky PQ, in my case, on my 37WL58.
For me, at least, the TVDrive is gonna be a stopgap/backup to SkyHD as cable PQ just doesn't cut the mustard.

Just spoke to Telewest who went through some settings that I had already tried...........no joy.

He said that the picture should be better than what I had before......certainly no drop in PQ.

Then we tried to view Teleport life.........this just locked the box up (twice).

Finally he decided to send an engineer out on Friday to have a look.

I have traded Sky+ in for the TV Drive and I think the PQ is equal and in some cases better than sky.

I think things have improved a little after several resets this evening.

Still getting lock-ups but hopefully Telewest engineer will sort out this friday.

When I upgraded from the old digital box to the TV Drive there was a huge impovement in PQ on all SD channels, perhaps you have a faulty box.

Appreciate your feedback........

I turned on TVDrive this morning connected via HDMI cable and it rebooted itself after picture/colours just flickered as though signal was weak.

Did some more testing and;

Via Scart RGB: picture definate drop in PQ compared to Freeview box.

Via HDMI cable: picture appears darker with what looks like noise and lacks general pop.

Engineer calling tomorrow hopefully with a new box.

Pq

FWIW using HDMI @720p I notice that the PQ is noticeably better than the Freeview tuner from either my integrated Sony tuner or Pace box. I mean we're not talking night and day stuff, but there is a difference.

I'm surprised that you've found that it's worse.

I agree that the Teleport stuff was a little unreliable, but it seems to have improved over time.

Have you tired reformatting the TVDrive (won't sort out you're PQ issues) but sorted out the recording and reliability issues.

My best PQ is through my Sony Freeview box.

Everytime I try to open Teleport Life the box just locks up and I have to reset.

Keep thinking I am doing something wrong or maybe its my TV.

Read a review somewhere on the current Toshiba LCD's, and I specifically remember them saying that HDMI pictures were poor and rather grainy.

New box fitted......

No lock-ups in menu's so far as before but.......

Picture PQ still better through freeview box

The only thing that wasn't changed was the HDMI cable.

Left wondering as to try another HDMI cable or cancel TVDrive
