NTL... Why do i have to have a phone

Hi,

Why do NTL force you to take there phone. I was happy paying the £20/month for the family pack, but when trying to order it forces you to take the phone for an extra £11 per month. I have no desire for their phone, and having just taken a BT line, would have to pay out BT 3 months of service to get out of it.

Also all the ADSL providers say I have to have a BT line. NTL are not able to provide me with there internet pack in my location, so it would seem I have to give up my ADSL (no more BT line), just to get there TV package...

So I will keep my £30/month and put it towards something else!!!

Strange, as I have NTL broadband only, no phone line.

When I spoke to them about TV packages, they said I did not need a phoneline then either.

Just noticed you tried to do it online - indeed I spotted the same thing, but if you ring and ask, you should get the same response as I did above,

u dont!

i used to be a manager in the sales team, it might be someone lying to u for an extra sale, bearing in mind it its free with the tv service,so if it ofends u that much dont plug a phone into the socket and ul never know!

to be honest there broadband services are very good too with a 20:1 contention ratio compared to 50:1 thru standard broadband.
plus ul be saving £11 odd a month by not paying bt line rental. cant see why youd wana go paying bt line rental and a broadband supplier when u can make a good saving thru ntl.

im with bt but only because my girlfriend is manager there so get line and broadband option 3 or 4 (free router and 40gb usage one) for £15 a month combined, taken out of wages before tax. other wise id be on ntl broadband (wouldnt touch tv however)

called them back!

what a joke...

I called back, and this time I was told that I could take the TV only pack, and no phone, but it would be £30/month. If I take the telephone option its £28/month....

What absolute crap!!!!

Think I will go with homechoice.......
