We've all got these shiny new DLP set's but they need a good source to show them off.
I've recently had an ariel installed to take advantage of my freeview digital TV card in my PC & i find the picture quality to be far better than Telewest.
I was watching True Lies on ITV last night & it was superb quality & BBC wildlife programs are just in a different leaugue.

Here's some qestions for you all regarding picture quality.
Sky or Telewest which is best ?
Freeview digital & analogue compared to Sky/Telewest
Freeview digital PC TV card compared to Freeview set top box
Tv's own tuner from analogue broadcast

I was quite happy with the Telewest service untill freeview digital opened my eyes, now i'm angry at paying for a sub standard service, if it was'nt for the sports channells i'd be gone.

I have asked this question on loads of forums but nobody has been able to answer me. I have telewest and would like to know if sky pq is better or the same? I have never looked into freeview but alas i have a very poor aerial feed into my living room and so its probably out of the question anyway.

Just seen Neighbours BBC1 in freeview digital it was unwatchable very jerky the news afterwards was alright though

I've had Sky+ since it launched, but before that I had Telewest digital. I know when I switched I was amazed at how much better the picture was, but they may have improved since then...

I was the same. I had Telewest for a year or so & then switched to Sky and I was
immediately impressed by the PQ improvement: Sharper image & much more vibrant colours. I don't know how they compare to freeview though.

well you can get Sky+ V1 boxes SDi modded ad an SDi scaler and thats the best PQ your gonna get.... not sure if an SDi mod too any FV box is possible..

I have found that Freeview is usualy top for picture quality IF you use a decent tuner - eg Sony IDTV

I was looking at geting hdtv now, a decoder costs around £500 but i dont know how much the subscripton is and if there are many films avialible for show. Any advice would be welcome.

I was dreading turning on my new Tosh 46 connected to my Telewest box after reading that the PQ was poor but in all honesty my PQ is excellent, even on Emmerdale and Eastenders which most people are complaining about. I can only assume its something to do with proximity to a Telewest centre - I'm about 5 miles away from one in Croydon so maybe the signal is stronger?

Likewise on the freeview front I think this comes down to the strength of the signal in your area. I have seen very good and very bad freeview PQ.

My son had sky & it seemed the same as Telewest but that was a year ago & on much smaller sets than i'm using now.
Just borrowed my son's 4MP digital camera, picture is from BBC2 & is freeview digital with a PC TV card.

Sky uses more compression to on bbc1, bbc2 itv etc, so the picture on freeview is a better pic.
