Help !!!! setting up Panasonic scht25R with NTL digital box

I have just purchased a panasonic scht25r DVD recorder / reciever system. The instructions on set up are hopeless with no mention of a digi box option. I have an NTL digital box (2 scart sockets) and a CRT TV with one scart socket. Does anyone know how to set the system up properly. If I follow panasonic instructions everything seems to work OK until I try to record from TV, when I switch the TV power off the recording carries on but only get a black screen. If by trial and error I swap the scart leads around then the recording seems OK but the sound will not switch off. (ie. I turn the TV off but still hear full sound through the speakers)


Please help as I am now getting grief from the other half about buying kit that fails to work.
