Telewest announces New HD PVR for 2005 launch

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/article/ds18555.html

Interesting although no announcement on HD service. Comes with 3 tuners - 2 simultaneous channel record whilst watching a 3rd!

What's the bet that NTL have nothing planned? You have to envy Sky owners with their 160GB HDD Sky+ boxes with twin tuners, interactive features, digital teletext etc..

What the hell do we have on NTL digital.....nothing at all. Not even digital text!

Nice, just a shame Telewest is an abysmal service, now you'll be able to record your expensive PPV events vanishing from the screen and the 'you are not authorised to view this channel' warning from the channels your spending £20 a month on.

It's horrible and slow as it is can't see how they're going to make extra features work, I'd be happy if the STB responded to button presses within the hour before they start getting ambitious with hard drives.

I totally agree with Rob20, NTL digital is awful at present, totally lacklustre. I hear they're releasing a 'video on demand' service, but I'd much rather see a PVR and some indication of a strategy for a HD. I'd even settle for a menu system that worked quickly. Its sad that there is no viable alternative for those of us who refuse to take the 'Murdoch shilling'.

Or didn't constantly freeze, programme listing not being available etc etc. If I'm going away for the weekend it's impossible to record more than one channel as the programme guide rarely provides listings more than 6 hours in advance. Totally rubbish compared to others 7 day scheduling. The number of times I've had to unplug the box to reset it. NTL are a disaster from start to finish. If it wasn't for Prem football I would have cancelled NTL and bought a freeview box.

I to am a shat on NTL owner!!

I am clinging on to the fact that there have been statements that NTL will be releasing a PVR Q3 this year. Telewest and NTL are so close these days that I would imagine that the NTL system will be very similar.

I just don't understand their marketing strategy of keeping everything secret...you would think they would want to prevent customes moving to sky.

If NTL dont have a PVR by the end of the year, I will bite the bullet and have a crappy ugly dish on the side of the house. Although strangely a neighbour has his about a foot off the ground under the window in the flower beds to hide it...never seen anything like...how strange!!

4 months ago, I upgraded my package to include the movie channels. Since then, they have overcharged me £29 every single month, and every month I have to phone them up to sort it out. Apparantly, nothing can be done. Well, everytime they say they'll sort it, and every month it's £29 over. I've since cancelled the movie channels. The first couple of times I had to spend up to 2 hours just to get through. NTL is a real shambles.

The interesting thing about that article is also that the Atlanta Scientific box will be HD capable, which means it's bound to have a HDMI or DVI connection. If I didn't know that it will be well into 2006 until I get that box I would actually get quite excited...

Old news the merger is signed and sealed... Its not to late Sky hd give them a ring.or you could do what some people are doing and that is buying free to air hd boxes by Humax..Over than having a HDMi connection £ 300 is a lot of money for a free to air box.
