I have got broadband wiv ntl and am tryin to connect to xb live directly from my ntl cable box(not a modem)to my xbox.but it says cannot connect to xb live.I would like to know, if i have to get more expensive xb live package wiv ntl[

Is this a new NTL installation ? If so you need to initialise the connection with a PC.

However if you connect a PC directly to your cable modem it will remember the PC mac address and only allow that single PC to connect until it times out after about 6 hours I think. If you are swapping between a PC and Xbox connected you will either need to go through ICS on your PC (xbox.com tells you how to do this) or get a router to share your connection.

If you only have an xbox then you'll probably need to purchase NTL's Xbox live kit.
