Magic eye problems

Hi Guys,

I have a Humax Foxsat-HD (Freesat) set up on my Sony TV and I wanted to send the signal from the Humax to a bedroom. I got a triax, i have a cable direct from the triax 9v RF out to the bedroom, scart from Humax marked VCR to the triax AV input, AV out to TV and the IR and power plugged in. The green light is on and the picture is there but it will not change channel. Do you have any ideas, the Triax is a Tri-link modulator.

Any help would be great.

Have you got the infrared emitter plugged into the Triax and fitted on the front of the Foxsat-HD? If so are you sure it's on the right place in front of the infrared receiver on the Foxsat.

Since you have the light on the magic eye I presume you are connected to the 2nd TV output on the Triax.

If everything looks correctly installed then I would double check the connections at any coax plugs or F plugs you have fitted. Even a single strand of wire shorting between the screen and signal will stop the infrared working but still allow the picture to get through.
Double check, Power the triax off and then on again after a few seconds.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply, I have the 2 little IR sensors pluged in and stuck to the front. Is there a particular place that I should put them ?

I do have all connected up, but I will take your advise and check the connections but I am pretty sure they are good. I think you might be on to something on the sensors if you can give me a bit of help on this area it may sort the problem. Thanks again

I'm not sure exactly where it is on the Foxsat.
If you get a torch and shine it at the front of the Foxsat from a few inches away you can usually see the IR receiver. It is usually behind a small 'window' approx 1cm square. The actual receiver is probably a small circular disc about 3mm in diameter.
If you can't see it then you can find it by using the original remote control and a book or DVD cover or something similar to cover up most of the front panel blocking the IR signal. While repeatedly firing change channel commands or similar from the remote, slowly move the book/DVD sideways until the commands get through. By moving the book/DVD back an forward you can detect where the IR sensitive receiver is located.

Alternatively you can get someone else to use the remote in the other room while you slowly move the IR emitters along the front of the Freesat box until you find the correct spot.

Good luck
