SD Upscaling with hd box

I currently have sky hd, but my box is failing slowly, and i defo dont want to be fobbed of with a refurb. Having read may pages on various forums, along with the sky v virgin fan boy arguments. Could anyone tell me if its that much better. Starting at say sky sd from a Thompson hd box is a 5 out of ten rating for a sd picture. What would the virgin equivalent from their hd box rate at. I've sort of lost interest in the hd content, as most of the wow factor has dwindled over the years. Had sky hd since the world cup, so pretty much from launch.

TIA

I can only say that the Virgin SD scaling is superb.

If you read around on this forum you will see that on concensus the SD performance of the V+ box is second to none. There are even posts where the the better bit -rate SD channels are, when upscaled by the V+, favourably compared to the HD from the lower bitrate HD channels on Sky.

I endorse what everyone else has said, its a superb picture and even though you might have lost interest in the HD content,it will be revived when you watch some of the HD from, for instance, National Geographic documentaries on wildlife in particular, its just stunning .......
