What's this on my screen?

Over the weekend everytime I switched the tv on I found a strange logo in the top left hand corner of the screen. What looks like a white speaker symbol on a black background slashed with a red cross. The only way to get rid of it is by pressing HOME then TV on the remote but its back the next time I switch the tv on. Any ideas?

Have you tried pressing the Mute button?

Re: What's this on my screen?

Quite a few people have had this happen, myself included.

I thought it was the mute for the V+ but it is just a software glitch.

Just reboot the box and it should clear it.

Re: What's this on my screen?

Yes at first I thought it was to do with the mute button. Thanks for the reboot tip.

I just press the red button, then cancel it and the mute icon goes away. No need to re boot in my case.

But does it come back again when you next switch on the tv? Rebooting prevents this happening.

It has nothing to do with the TV but if you mean the box then not really.
Its a bug that been around for ages. I last saw it about 6 weeks ago and my box hasn't been rebooted since before that.
I used to re boot but found that it can still come back. Re booting is fine unless you are mid way in to recording a program.

Yes I meant the box. Everytime I switched it on the icon was there. Since rebooting it has not come back. Just something else to add to all the on-screen clutter. The actual clear viewing space on a tv these days seems to be getting smaller. Wouldn't it be nice to see a screen filled with nothing but the picture.
