Virgin media white box, can i recieve channels 1-5?

Hello all

Currently in my house there is a virgin media box down stairs and a white box on the wall in my room (for the internet)

I never bothered with it, it was just there for the internet but recently ive been told i can use this to get channels 1 to 5 without needing my old ghetto aerial

Here is a photo (sorry about the quality.. and the dust )

I have tried to plug the cable that runs from the wall into my tvs aerial port but it does not fit

Can anyone tell me if i can use the second empty connection to recieve channels 1 to 5?

Do i need to buy a freeview box in order to do this?

Thanks

You used to be able to get the analogue channels via the cable feed in all areas, but now only a few still carry them. All analogue signals will soon be unavailable via the Virgin network as analogue is completely switched off in the UK. If you cannot get the analogue channels then the likelihood is that Virgin have already ceased carrying them in your area.

Re: Virgin media white box, can i recieve channels 1-5?

Ah right, i had a look at the virgin media box downstairs and it appears to be connected in the same way (using the same connection) as the modem

The box on the wall is the same also (apart from the cabels comming from underneath the box rather than on top like in the photo)

I take it that these two boxes are different?

That connection wont fit your tv because its an "F" connector you can either cut it of and fit a normal connector or buy a small adapter to change it to a normal arial connector, then you will be able to see if you get anything on the tv from this cable ....you wont be able to pick up any freeview channels via this cable as it doesn't carry them ...
