Wired online Blu-ray connection?

I currently have Virgin cable coming into my living room. It goes through a (splitter?) box to my V+ box. Another connection goes back out of the house from this box, along the wall, and comes back into my study as broadband, where it connects to my router and PC.

I've just added a Sony BDP-S550 blu-ray player which has a wired internet option for lives updates etc.

Can I simply add a splitter connector at the exit point (where the BB cable goes back out of the house) and link the BR player up there?

Can't run a cable direct to my router without loads of hassle, and the S550 doesn't have wireless (which I did know when I bought it). A bit confused about what is BB and what is cable TV flowing through VM cables really...

Thanks for reducing my ignorance if poss....

You have to make an internet connect through the cable modem. You need to either connect the modem to a router and then the BD player to the router or connect the cable modem directly to the BD player via ethernet. You can also use an ethernet bridge on the BD player and make a wireless ethernet link between the player and a router where the modem is connect and the bridge receiver is also connected.
