V+ to DVD/VCR (again?!)

Hi all.

V+ box just installed.

Apologies if this has been completely resolved by now (actually I really hope it has). I've tried bouncing around but can only see some 2yo posts concerning this so I dunno if anything has changed, and I'm probably too stoopid to follow them.

Copying a recording from V+ box to DVD/VCR. Can it be done? More to the point, can it be done simply? The posts I've seen mention all kinds of extra cables and connections that do my head in. When I called VM, I was told to read the manual - if I could have found the answer there I'd hardly be calling would I? Other than that, the bloke just said he 'wasn't technically minded' and couldn't help.

The problem is of course that the recorder doesn't 'see' a picture from the box. I've tried copying in AV1, AV2 and AVF, which are the olny three options my recorder has, but nothing.

Any help greatly appreciated

Cheers

Re: V+ to DVD/VCR (again?!)

I used to be a VM customer and was a V+ user and I definitely remember their being an option to copy your recordings to a DVR/VCR. I seem to remember it being an option when browsing your recorded programs but alas it's been nearly a year since I had a V+ box so I'm not 100% on that. I'm pretty sure all you need is to connect a scart cable from the VCR/DVR out on the back of the V+ box to your VCR/DVR/DVDR and then select the relevant option in the menu.

yes you can BUT!!!! In my experience the only thing i have recorded across has been catch up tv or normal tv programmes. Anything like music on-demand etc are copy-right protected.

I dont have the movies package so cant comment on this. (though i doubt it)

Re: V+ to DVD/VCR (again?!)

In order to copy recordings already made on the V+ box to an external device then you must use the SCART output marked VCR. Pre recorded content on he V+ box's hard drive can only be transferred via the VCR SCART output, this is especially so if also using HDMI for the primary output to your display.

In order to output the content via the VCR SCART, press the V+ button on the remote and then go into the V+ Extras menu. In the V+ Etras menu select Copy to DVD/VCR. Now select the items you wish to send out via the VCR SCART to your external recorder. Cue up your recording device and then proceed to copy the content to it. The transfer is in real time. You can go back to using the V+ box as normal while the transfer is in progress or you can continue to view the material as it is being transferred.

Re: V+ to DVD/VCR (again?!)

Hi,

Replies all appreciated, but the problem persists!

I have the scart connection from V+ to recorder, I'm following the transfer procedure from V+ Extras etc. The problem is that the recorder is not picking up a signal/picture from V+ in any mode - AV1, AV2, AVF. There's nothing but a blank screen.

Did you ensure to use the VCR SCART and not the TV SCART output?

Yep. I've also tried leaving the TV socket empty and connected to the telly (which logically isn't really doing anything I guess). Neither works.

However, after a rather more extensive search of the forum archives, I have a solution, of sorts. Since the HDMI connection overides all SCARTs, you go into the audio/visual settings and take it off HDMI and onto Widescreen. Then, the recordings will copy via AV. Then you go back into settings and change the whole thing back again after transfer.

This does work, but it's a rather convoluted and tiresome way of carrying out what I'd have thought should be a fairly basic function. I'd think there must be a far simpler way of doing it, though as the HDMI setting does overide all the SCARTs, maybe not...
