I am new to this site and must say i am impressed by the level of technical knowledge shown, my only critiscism is it can be hard to find, hence this post.

I have the above tv and my input is from a virgin media stb by Samsung.

When I scan for channels it only finds channel 65 which is the defualt in the samsung stb. I can change chanels by switching to the virgin remote in the same way as with my old tv but heres the problem.

I am due to recieve a Sony RDR HXD790 HD recorder and it occurs to me that the only recording I will be able to do is of the programme I am watching, not very satisfactory for such a high end recorder.

Can anyone tell me if there is a way for the tv to recognise the virgin channels within channel 65 or some other way.

The answer is no.

Your best option is to return the Sony RDR HXD790 HD recorder and upgrade to the Virgin V+ box.

thanks for the reply but as I want to use the sony recorder as a more general device I still wait for an answer to the original question.
