Didn't think of it like that. I do have Be & VM. I just wish we could have the best of both worlds or strik a happy medium.

Wait until 4pm comes when your speed drops to 70mb/s then to 38mb/s to 44mb/s come 8pm to 2am. This was happening to me and it was not traffic management I was hitting, downgraded to 30mb/s and my speeds are flawless in the evening. The VM network cannot handle 100mb/s.

March / April quoted for me, my area has been upgraded for at least 2 weeks so tomorrow I am gonna phone them and I am going to refuse to speak to anyone that I cannot understand. I am not gonna be paying £35 a month for 100mb tier when I am getting 50mb still and that package is only £27.

had mine upgraded to 60mb today. Just need to get a new wireless adaptor for the OH laptop as it can't handle the speed.

I'm going to be downgrading next week, despite being on 100mb/s, I can only manage 25mb/s max at the best of times. This is usually in the early hours of the morning. The rest of the time it averages 10mb/s

Yep, see same here - their network can't cope and they haven't even upgraded the majority yet.

Strange how it suddenly went back to normal at just after midnight...

If the problem was related to the volume of customer traffic then I thought it'd look more like a bell curve

Is the page that tells you when you're being upgraded working for anyone else? Fast UK broadband | Increase your broadband speed with Virgin Media

I've been trying it for a few weeks, but just get an empty image thing after putting in my postcode.

It's never worked for me. I have had fibre optic service since Oct 2011 - but it tells me VM don't cover the area.

Sounds like yours is for a different reason though.

It plays an embedded video (pretty pointless iMO) so perhaps your browser isn't configured to support this?

It worked way back when they first announced it and I think my area was quoted as July (it played the silly video of the guy pointing to the date). I've tried Safari, Firefox and Chrome but none work now.

Rang to cancel. They said they could upgrade me to 100mb immediately and do £5 discount per month.
Few minutes later the modem rebooted and I was upgraded from 50mb to 100mb.

Result!

With all the disruption over the weekend I bet VM are feeling a bit apologetic at the moment.

Speedtest.net chooses the nearest server so ping results are low.

On BT Wholesale fibre speed test I get DL: 105.41Mbps, UL: 4.81Mbps and PING: 37.68ms

BT Speed Tester Lite (Beta)

It doesn't for me. My nearest server is in my town apparently but it ops for one some 60odd miles away in London.

What area are you in? If you are in Kent I will contact VM.

Are you saying that VM are lying and it is perfectly possible for them to raise the upload speed prior to the network upgrade?

Do you work for VM or have some influence?

Sorry - I am little confused by your post.

I cant see Virgin upgrading the upload speed until the upgrades have been made, if they do the network may not cope.

Technically they could do it if 100Mbit was available in the area prior to the upgrades, not many people need a 10mbit upload and as the upgrades are free I'd be happy to wait, then again I'm an original 100mbit customer.

I notice from my latest bill that VM have been a bit sneaky and added an extra £5 per month for the speed increase (moot point at the moment as I've still got credit) - in a month or so I might go back to 30/3 and just wait for the official upgrade.
