Netgear VMDG280 Port Forwarding

I've been trying to set up Port Forwading on our Virgin Media Netgear VMDG280 to allow remote viewing of a camera.

I've allocated the camera a static IP, and can view it on our local network.

I've set up Port Forwading on port 80 for the camera's static IP.

But we cannot access the camera remotely.

I'm using portforwarder to check the settings. It couldn't ping the router, so I set 'Respond to ping on WAN port' to yes in the DMZ settings. Portforwarder can now ping the router, but says port 80 is not open. I tried setting the DMZ address to the camera too, but that made no difference (I've now set it back).

Any ideas as to what I'm missing, or what I need to do to access it remotely?

Many thanks!

That happens every time I post about a problem to a forum! Even if the solution has been eluding me for days, as soon as I post I figure out how to solve the problem

I think just putting it into words makes you think logically about it!

I hope you're still subscribed to this thread...

Would you mind telling us what gateway or other settings you changed in order to be able to port forward? I have the same router and can't open specific ports.

Thanks in advance,
Stuart

Hi

On holiday at the moment so can't check - but think it was the subnet mask. I'm home next week, so will check then if you haven't resolved it.

Hi again

The setting we changed was under 'LAN IP'.

We set the subnet mask to 255.255.255.0

Hope that helps.
