Wireless is pretty poor on it. I wonder (theoretically) if it can be opened up and a proper aerial attached ??

Any help on setting the LAN IP?
Factory setting is 192.168.0.1 but i want 192.168.1.1. When i try this it says Lan IP address and guest IP address can't be the same. How do i change the guest IP address?
I want to change it to save having to reconfigure some of my fixed IP kit

I'm kind of fumbling my way through this too and managed to get it all working. However sorry if I confuse you even more, but here goes...

When you plug in your router to the superhub, the hub gives your router a dynamically assigned ip address in the 192.168.0.x range. My router and network use the 192.168.1.x range which is obviously different. However, you just use the '0' range to communicate between the hub and router. The rest of your network can remain on the '1' network.

So, view the ip address that is automatically assigned to your router (should be visible on it's setup page somewhere). Then go back to your hub and under LAN IP add your routers mac address and IP address to DHP reservation lease. Then add that ip address in the DMZ Host field.

That should leave you done. Hope that helps and please anyone jump in if you can clarify anything or correct me.

Hope that helps.
Graham

Thanks for the reply
Got it sorted.
I'm not sure exactly how i did it though.

Is your method to keep your existing router?

I was wanting to remove mine.

Seems OK although i'm having trouble getting my DS1010+ download station to work. Port forwarding doesn't seem to be having any effect.

I'll sort it out eventually i hope.

You're right, I was assuming you would be keeping your router.

I think the best advice would be to change your fixed ip addresses which is something you wanted to avoid.

The simplest way would be to assign DHCP addresses in the region of, say, 192.168.0.1 - 192.168.0.50 then put your 'fixed' values at above that. For example, manually assign the ip address 192.168.0.51 to say your main pc.
It would not get nabbed as it is outside the range of addresses distributed by the hub.

That's my limited understanding of these things, but if someone knows better, I'm keen to know!

Got everything working (touchwood) The DS1010+ wouldn't download until i disconnected from the switch and connected directly into the Superhub, and i've managed to change the IP range to 192.168.1.XX which means i don't have to reconfigure my NAS server and remap the drives on the Media Center computers. (i hate messing with things as something invariably breaks).
One other problem, while the engineer was messing on changing connectors to try and get the full 50meg download (he later realised i was using XP on the PC we were speed testing on and remembered it needed a speed optimiser setup) dislodged my own telephone wire connection from the incoming socket so the phones didn't work - i only realised a couple of hours later. I've managed to do a temporary fix until i can redo the connection

I got the new superhub the other week, wireless seems fine but I have noticed intial lag when going on line with my wired PC.

After starting the PC I click on IE and it seems to take a while from my home page (Google) to appear for the first time, this is after making sure all ssrvices etc have stopped loading. After that it seems better. Any thoughts

So called back and cancelled the phone and broadband stating there is no customer service and i did not want to support the company with my mthly donations for a second rate experience.

May give Sky HD another go, or just keep my £500+ for the year, as I have a 2mb BT service at home/work........................
Hi Fella,
I had the same issues with disconnecting, it seems that VM have set the modem up with a 3600 second lease
this meaning that anything connected to it has to re-connect every hour, you won't notice this unless you are actually online using your PC at the time, go into the Hub Setting's Click on Advanced then LAN IP there will be a lease box that says 3600 ( 1 Hour ) change this to 9999999 this gives you about 2 or 3 months something like that, click apply and you should be ok no more re-sets, let me know how you get on

Change the Channel number to 11 on your Router wifi settings not Auto, this will boost the signal as it's not using it's power to transmit allover the place on different frequencies

Something to do with your pc. Google loads instantly on my pc and even on the laptop with wireless.

Hey guys I'm sorry to hear its got poor range, was thinking about getting one.
I bought a Belkin G router last year and its range isn't that great, was hoping the superhub would be an improvement.
There's a PS3 2 floors up in the upstairs bedroom, you reckon it would have trouble reaching that?

Superhub

I've just gone for the VM 50mb service and the superhub and it all seems to work OK, apart from when I connect my Toshiba P300 laptop I stll only get 20mb according to some of the test sites. Is this down to the wifi component in the laptop?

Also I'm trying to connect a Panasonic DMR-BW880 bluray recorder to the hub via a Netgear WNCE2001 adapter without success. It comes up with an error message (B019?).

Anyone have any ideas how to fix this in simple terms. This is my first post, so apologies if it is in the wrong place.

On my second version now due to the wireless problems, of which VM told me the are now common problem. Start off fine then gradually get worse till you can only connect via a wired ethernet!. No good if you have an iPad and iPhone!.

I have the same hub, same problem.... Steer clear of this modem, once you upgrade they wont give you old modem back.

You've been warned....

Happened to me this morning!

I wished I was here before! I moved my house, and the engineer replaced my existing equipment with new stuff, which means I lost my Modem for Super Hub! I am hating it to the extreme at the moment! Would love to disable its wireless/router functionality, to be able to attach my existing Linksys router.

If someone knows how can I allocate the WAN IP address to an attached router, I would be grateful.

I have had 3 random router hangups already in first 24 hours. Not happy at all. I am supposed to be on 50Mbps but so far have failed to see anything above 32Mbps.

An engineer is meant to be visiting me Tuesday evening.

Mine "locks" are even more frequent, the other night it did it right in the middle of me streaming recorded tv over the network!!!!

Why oh why do companies rush products to market when they are nothing more that a very early beta version!!!!

I have the engineer out tomorrow to "re-install" all new gear - we shall see.............

If i could get an half decent "uncapped" adsl i'd jump tomorrow..............

Not sure 3g will allow me to use my iphone's personal wifi "all you can eat" plan.....

Weird I have had mine installed for 2 weeks now - using wired and wireless and it hasnt needed a reboot once. Works perfectly.

I have turned the flood detection off and the firewall on day one as well though.

Was dam sure i'd turned off flood this and firewall that, but logged onto the router anyway.................

Whilst there i had a click about and went into event log and it's got aload of events logged. DHCP failed, critical blah blah............

Funny, never been asked by recite this back to CS, Super Hub support or 50mb support (classic case of too many chiefs) they just tell me that the router is not showing their end - no poo sherlock.... neither is it this end - that's why i called.............

For those experiencing poor wireless have you tried switching the frequency from 5Ghz to 2.4Ghz and vice versa? I have read that this can help.
