Exclamation Slow connection?

Has anyone else noticed a slowdown on Virgin Media broadband especially over the last few days? It's almost like being back on 56k again! I'm sure it's probably something to do with all the kids being on holiday, using up all the bandwidth with their online consoles, MP3 downloading, Youtube etc etc. Get the brats back to school that's what I say!
Anyway, I did a speed test just a minute ago, and the results were:
Speed Down: 1239.66 Kbps ( 1.2 Mbps )
Speed Up: 182.71 Kbps ( 0.2 Mbps )

The uplink seems a bit slow, bearing in mind that I'm a 2MB customer!

Re: Slow connection?

it seems ok to me, lots of things effect it, time of day and the pesky kids off school etc etc.

Re: Slow connection?

Im on the 4Meg connection, I used to get DL speeds of around 400Kbs when it was NTL , but ever since the merge with Virgin, I seem to average around 45kbs no matter what time it is, it's not even as fast as when I first got 512k broadband then I averaged around 60Kbs , although yesterday I thought they might have finaly sorted out the problem as my DL speed hit 200Kbs for the first time in many months, but it was short lived as it's back to 50Kbs again .

Re: Slow connection?

Try switching off the modem for a few minutes and see what happens. Make sure your computer is not running slow. If none of the above work.........

Afew things to take into consideration.

a: They are box shifting their products now, cheaper and faster connecions with free upgrades etc.

b: Their connections in the green box are not checked (in my post in this section) is proof they cannot be bothered to remove old connecion which do make a diferance to speeds and picture quality to paying customers.

c: Their crap customer service is second to none. I have yet to find a a crap company whom i pay monthly without fail via a direct debit that make me so angry and looking at the forum i know i'm not alone.

Oh, yeh and its a little like the fuel price. If another breen box is playing up the whole area suffers. So i guess you will have to sit tight and wait for it to cear it.

This test was done @ 8am i am on a 20 meg.)
