Introduction to AVForums
AVForums.com is a website which people visit to discuss Audio Visual home consumer electronics.
As well as our core Home Cinema forums, we also have very busy dedicated sections for video gaming, computers, photography, mobile phones, sat nav, ICE and more.
AVForums is free to use. We do not charge you for using the forums, posting classifieds, reading our reviews, watching our videos or listening to our podcasts. We do not sell anything except advertising campaigns to advertisers. We only ask that you, as a visitor to AVForums, allow us to show you the adverts which sustain and help grow this resource.
At AVForums.com you can get totally free advice from other people on all subjects relating to AV.
People often come to find what products to buy, where to buy them from, and how to get the most out of them after they get them home. We are visited by many types of people from those wanting to build their own DIY home cinemas to those wanting a complete custom installation without delving into details.
There is an ever growing membership getting satisfaction from helping others achieve the best from their home entertainment experiences, whether by answering questions aired or passing on their experiences gained.
AVForums.com is a resource made up of two types of content.
As well as being a vibrant and exciting forum community, AVForums also has its own in house editorial team to produce original reviews, podcasts and videos.
Our philosophy in our forums, reviews, podcasts and feature videos is to promote audio and visual excellence by gathering and sharing the best information and resources available.
Our editorial team produces
- Hardware reviews respected for being thorough and objective.
- Blu-ray reviews written with expertise and a passion for the movies.
- Regular podcasts covering home cinema and movie news, reviews and commentary.
- Videos covering varied topics from consumer and industry shows, product reviews and tutorials to home cinema installations.
How do people use the forums?
It's easy. You don't need to be a member to read our forums, but if you wish to post a message, the first thing you need to to is register, which you can do by clicking here (it's free and takes a few minutes). Then you can post a message, either by replying to an existing thread, or creating a new thread of your own. If you are not familiar with how to use forums, we ask that you read our Frequently Asked Questions page in order to appreciate how things are done.
Which forum is most relevant?
Since our website covers quite a broad spectrum of topics, we have a lot of forums. From plasma TVs to speakers, digital cameras to high definition movies. For convenience the forums are grouped into categories. For example, the Video Electronics category contains the LCD Flat Panel Televisions forum.
Take your time to browse the categories and forums before choosing the one which is most suitable for your new message.
Our best advice if you are new to our forum is to take your time browsing to
get an idea of where everything is. Don't be intimidated by the amount of information.
Just focus on what interests you.
I feel reluctant to join in because I'm new to the subject
We're all new to the subject at some time. Our rules state that members should treat each other with respect, although we rarely need to enforce these rules as ours is a very friendly community. Please don't feel intimidated by our veteran members, as they are, for the most part, extremely friendly, and you are very welcome here.
What else do I need to know?
If you need any other information about how to use the forums, you should access our FAQ here.
Please enjoy visiting the AVForums.com. We're here to help you.
History
AVForums.com has been run from the outset with a strong emphasis on employing a code of good conduct so that AV enthusiasts of all ages and from all walks of life can participate in a safe and friendly environment.
By the summer of 2000 it was clear the forums were popular so we installed professional software to provide the features people were demanding. As time went on, we created new forums for separate categories of hardware such as Televisions and Speaker Systems. Also the more technical Home Cinema PC and Video Processing forums were created in order to satisfy the specific needs of the enthusiastic technically minded visitors.
