AVForums advertising policy
AVForums is, always has been and always will be a free resource.
The site is free to view, free to search, free to join and free to use.
What do we do for you?
- We pay for the hosting of the AVForums which requires several servers and
a fat connection to the internet.
- There are full time and part time staff who work to maintain and develop
the website.
- We provide expert DVD, HD DVD and Blu-ray reviews at http://avplay.avforums.com/
- We provide expert hardware reviews at http://avreviews.avforums.com
- We publish two monthly podcasts with additional special reports from shows
All these activities cost money. In addition many people donate
their time for free. Most notably the moderators who do a fantastic job of keeping
the forums running smoothly.
How do we pay to keep the forums running?
Banner advertising is far and away our main source of income.
And because we believe that information on the internet should be free, we would
not consider removing advertising in favour of charging you to view the website.
So the adverts are absolutely vital to the survival of AVForums.
In order to make adverts an acceptable element of your visit
to AVForums, we ensure as far as possible that they are not unpleasant on the
eye and are as relevant as possible to you. In fact we hope that you will consider
adverts to be 'content'. Adverts absolutely could alert you
to offers/products/services which you may well find useful/desirable/essential.
We limit the size of adverts so that they do not eat up too much of your connection,
and so they download as quickly as possible. And we absolutely do not have pop-up
adverts.
For all the reasons above, it is against our conditions of
use to employ software or plugins to block advertising from being displayed
on AVForums, and we reserve the right to restrict access to the site to anyone
we discover using such advert blocking technology.
