Burning DVDs after Vegas

after Vegas Studio V10 Production Suite
- I've been reading about Magix advanced features and I like some, but not all. As a user of Vegas Studio 10, I can produce a Rendered file quickly . . . what options do I have for burning DVD/AVCHD/BD...?

(Let's omit Architect - never did like its interface and buring discs has been a bit hit-or-miss).

- - - - - - My Rendered files are .MT2S normally from 1920x1080x50i

.............is this a "standard" that other Burning Programs will accept? . . . or will (Say Magix) know it's not one of theirs and insist I do the EDIT from the actual movie-clips - - - - - that could take some time, although would be interesting IF I was a dab-hand at Magix . . . so I guess there would be a lot of "unlearning" to do as well.

Wiindows DVD Maker (part of Win7/32), appears to work only with .avi files . . it's very slow, even to get to the Menu Preview . . . . . this DVD burning is going to be tedious.

You can import edited footage from Vegas Movie Studio in Magix and use it to author DVD, AVCHD or Blu-ray discs.

How much computer do I NEED

12harry,
sorry to read about your troubles with DVD Architect Studio, since I for one have successfully authored and burned with the software for more than a year now. Maybe you should try glt's suggestion, as you and DVDA do not seem to agree . And as has been discussed here on a few occasions, the Vegas and Architect builds released since late 2011 do not have the AVCHD disc option as such any more.

Harry:

You can edit many different source files in Magix but I have had some problems when messing around with downloaded stuff. It certainly has no problem with M2TS files.

Thanks both of you, always good to know another view . . . I have a copy of MagicMovie Edit Pro17HD, but have been put-off by their "sign up and pay for AVCHD/mpeg4, with mpeg2 requiring a "free" registration as well. I've paid for the software, why can't they do their bit?

In my frustration I searched the HDD and found the download DVD-A , when run it seems to need Win XP SP2, Grief and this is only a year+ old (with Studio v10), which begs the Q when they wrote the "update" . . anyway it refuses to load, run or do anything useful.

Having so much free time means I could now try Windows Live Movie maker, since the W-DVD maker appears to stall on start-up.....(freezes after prodding). . . and I found I could Import my Vegas-Authored films into WLMM, then after it's had a further grind, it's ready for Saving - n Windows video format .WMF I think. After I've done this a few times I went back to DVD maker and that will import the Window files....(I wonder if it was re-rendering when it appeared to falter - unfortunately there is no "Action Bar" just a sill arrow going Round nad Round, which tells you nothing and makes it look like it's go stuck in a Loop.

After trying to force my Title on it, it has burnt a DVD, but it's confused about the Menu and Scenes - but forgive that, I do have a Playable DVD - I tried on two DVD players (one BD) and it seems to be accepted.

Not sure If I should try Magix - they constantly email me with Offers I don't want, and Registering might give them New Hope.

Vegas Studio Question:
1) If I only want to burn a DVD, can I Render in a format the Burner software will put stright onto the Disc, or is that expecting too much? I guess I'd not have the Menu, but maybe that can be inserted prior to burning, as I really only need text....
2) I find some moving titles are a tad "jerky" The use of keyframing seems to do this . . as I zoom in (making the text get larger), the letters have almost a drunken edge to them. Yet some transitions (of video) appear to move quite quickly without jagged edges. Is there a speed-limit for text, I wonder?
3) The same applies to Credit Roll - where some lines of text can jerk, yet I have little control over the speed, other than by stretching the event (etc.).

btw I set Vegas Studio v10 to match the incoming media 1920x1080x50i.

I'm having difficulty gettinig any sense from Vegas - you think they'd like to know if their "update" was Useful, etc.?
Far easier than recruiting new customers, already using another program . . . as it is, this "update" has wrecked my use of VS - & I'm waiting for that to go bad, too.

Using the option I linked to in Vegas (tools/Burn Disc) you can create a DVD iso image either with or without menus. Any burning package (IMGburn is free) will burn the image to a blank DVD. 5.1 support is free in the premium versions of Magix.

Thanks Bob++ I bought a lesser version[Movie Edit Pro 17HD], but thought this was what I needed[ except now as i read it I am expected to buy a Codec licence, which really should be written in large type -- but it's in really print on a side panel and is FAR from clear "t the point of Purchase"- for this reason I distrust Magic ethics], later-on I bought Vegas... This has been OK for 12 months.
Architect Studio Errors
I've heard that the Architect "failing to Burn" is due to some incompatability with a recent Win7 update. Unfortunately, I have not been able to confirm this - and suspect both MS and Sony will blame each other and Me in that order.
I accepted a free update from Sony, thinking this would be the Fix to this "known" issue - but that induced a total failure and so now I hav to burn direct from VS (but it's only ONE file) - or - I use WLMM and thenWin DVD burn..... but these are poor alternatives to DA, with its Menu arrangement. (er, not that DA is particularly easy in use as I've discovered....

Harry, doesn't DVDA have a facility to 'burn' to HDD. That is it will do all the work but write the files to HDD, you can then use the free (and portable version if you like, no install, clicky) infraRecorder to burn those files to DVD. You may also be interested in "DVDstyler" again portable, clicky to build menus etc.

Chelters, typo, I think you meant Vegas Studio - and "yes" it does have that option, so I can create HD files on my HDD..
. By "portable" do you mean it just burns what it's given, without regard to program source? I would like to create DVDs with a Menu (for each short) vid)...that way one disc can carry several vids (as back-ups?), or tailored to suit a particular recipient...etc.

The you say no install - don't nderstand, is that like a "live" disc program that runs until the PC is switched off?

I'm wary of clicking on a link - can you give me those web addresses, perhaps?

DVDA is completely absent on my PC, although the Editor Vegas Studio is still behaving properly. I can't install the original ArchitectDVD prog as it thinks that earlier copy is present . . . this is circles, my friend!

@12Harry
I use many portable apps, though not dvdstyler (I'm not fussed about writing DVD's). They are great because you don't install them on your computer as such. They are just a collection of files required for the operation, in their own directory, so can be run from a memory stick or external HDD/CD - or for that matter your internal HDD. They close when you close them. It may look like an install but it really isn't.

Here's the links, hopefully in plain text (note: I have added a space after http: ).
http: //portableapps.com/apps/utilities/infrarecorder_portable
(http: //infrarecorder.org/ for their homepage)

http: //portableapps.com/apps/music_video/dvdstyler_portable
(http: //www.dvdstyler.org/en/ for their homepage)

I've used this site many times, it's safe.

Whilst your at it, get cCleaner and clean your computer and registry, you'll most likley be able to re-install DVDA after.

http: //www.piriform.com/ccleaner/builds
Again there is a portable version.
