Question Three FreeSat HD boxes ... any output 576i/1080i automatically?

There are now three FreeSat HD set-top-boxes on the market: Grundig, Humax, and Pace.

When the Humax was launched one could manually select 576i and 1080i as the output over HDMI, and there was a component mode that automatically output the native format; does anyone know if they've updated the firmware yet to automatically output 576i/1080i native format over HDMI?

Also whether the newer Grundig or Pace boxes output 576i/1080i over HDMI? And if they have automatic format?

Looking to feed my Radiance XD with some FreeSat goodness.

Yes the Humax now has the auto mode. Auto on HDMI mostly works OK, occasionally I do need to manually set the auto mode again if that make sense.

Other than ease of switching channels etc when waiting to watch BBC-HD, I still find my old Sony Freeview D800 better for standard 576i (analogue) into the Radiance.

Well Humax get my coin then for the second satellite set-up.

Now, should I use Radiance or EDGE as the VP ... hrm ...

Re: Three FreeSat HD boxes ... any output 576i/1080i automatically?

Right, finally got a FreeSat HD installed (in my office) and Humax model at that.

Reporting back here that Humax Foxsat-HD does 576i over HDMI for SD channels and automatically swaps to 1080i for HD channel (only BBC HD atm) and back again when back to SD channels.

Along with my Oppo DV-980H set to 480i/576i over HDMI it's given me the ability to test the 50Hz deinterlacing capabilities of my desktop KURO KRL-37V with its 100Hz and PureCinema.

Looks like I might have to run them both through Radiance.

How do you find the Foxsat-HD SD picture?

I had one, but took it back because it appeared to have some kind of un-defeatable noise reduction, only on standard def, which smeared out detail and caused highlights to blow out and bleed.
