Can I get 1080p50 from a Crystalio 1 to drive HD750 (with DVDs)?

Hi Guys

With all the furore about the Oppo 83 and it's DVD upscaling capabilities I thought it seemed the natural choice to partner the HD750 I bought recently. I've been using a PS3 in the interim, but since much of my viewing is still from R2 DVDs, I thought I'd hook up my Crystalio 1/Philips 963 (SDI) combo to see how it fared. In short, very well indeed...although I have a slightly frustrating problem.

The '750 will accept 1080i60 and 1080p60 from the Crystalio (DVI > HDMI), but it just doesn't see any output resolution at 50Hz, irrespective of whether I try 576p50, 1080i50 or anything in between. The DVD picture at 1080p60 is really good and far beyond the PS3, but there is judder present on moving scenes, which I'm assuming is because I'm deriving a 60Hz signal rather than 50Hz from a PAL source.

The '750 will accept 576p50 from the PS3 via HDMI, or 576p50 from my other DVD players via component, but I just can't get a 50Hz signal from the Crystalio into the PJ.

Do I need custom timings? What am I missing? Help greatly appreciated!

Best regards

George

I think it must be a timing thing, it certainly accepts 1080p/50

Hi Choddo

You're right, the manual is pretty clear on that, and it should be accepting 1080i50 and 1080p50 without a hitch. Indeed, it takes 1080p50 from the PS3, so it would appear to be a timing issue with the Crystalio.

One of the things which I find confusing is that different names are used for (what I think are) the same adjustment parameters depending on which product manual or spec sheet you look at. I have the sense that the answer is under my nose, but I don't know how the HD750 timings specified in the manual relate to the config menu options in the Crystalio!

Inspiration anyone?!

Thanks

George
