Do I need a scaler?

I got a Samsung P2370HD which arrived yesterday. Whilst it does at least play my PS2 and Gamecube games in 60hz the image regardless of which setting I use is just terrible even in progressive scan. The edges are very jagged for one thing. I can't even articulate the other problem though this is probably just a slight variation on the jaged edge problem. Am I going to need a Scaler or is there something else that can do this because as far as I can tell, decent scalers are VERY expensive. One good scaler suggested in another thread costs 3.5 times the amount I paid for my monitor.

Re: Do I need a scaler?

Even with a scaler, I still get some jaggies on low res PS2 stuff particularly (the way the gamecube produces a picture seems a lot smoother) because the internal frame buffer is so low res. I don't think there's a cheap way to solve it, if any at all.
