Video scalers/processors for Amstrad SKY HD

Hello all, Im new to the forums

I hope you can offer me some advice.

Im looking for some help on which upscaler/processor to purchase for sky hd box, regardless of panel/projector, but assuming HDMI input on it.

The other thing im not sure of is how HDCP would be handled, as all new SKY HD boxes only have HDMI output as far as I am aware. Im aware of things like the HDFury 2, but is that necessary?

The only thing Ive looked at is the Lumagen RadianceXD, but this looks like complete overkill, it isnt cheap either.

Many thanks in advance.

HDCP is irrelevant if you have an HDMI or DVI (with hdcp)input on the display. You only need a Fury or such lik eif you want to go analogue to a display.

I can't really comment on alternatives as I am a Lumagen sort of guy

Thanks Gordon, in that case would some of the lower end Lumagens work in this scenario. ie the ones without HDMI input?

If you can afford the Radiance, go for that... it's the best home processor you can get at the moment.

You need to bear in mind that the Amstrad Sky HD box has overblown contrast that can't be adjusted for some reason. The Radiance would be your best in trying to salvage that I should imagine. Gordon can tell you more about if that's possible, which it should be... since video processors are there to fix poor sources too.

I have an Amstrad Sky HD STB which has (like all Amstrad's) a ''stuck'' contrast but it is stuck on a contrast value that it is unnecessary to adjust after TV calibration from a different input.

In fact its contrast output seems to be almost identical to my ''replaced'' Pace which required just a little adjustment.

Since in my case neither blackness nor whiteness are affected when my Sky STB is the selected input is this contrast issue so widespread or am i just lucky ?.

Thanks for the replys. Since Im new to this Ive gone with an Edge for now. It seems like a good starting point, considering no solution seems to be perfect and at the same time easy to use.
