Half a picture in 720p

Hi
Anyone have any idea why I get only half a picture displayed by my projector when my Foxsat HDR is set to 720p video ouput? It seems to be displaying the full 720 lines but the whole picture is offset to the left by half a screen width.

HDMI output to DVI input, the projector has a 1024x768 chip.

Cheers in advance.

Re: Half a picture in 720p

does the projector accept 720p50? Might just not be HD Ready

Re: Half a picture in 720p

It seems to recognise the signal and breifly shows the display format its using, which is 720p, 50Hz.
Is the HD signal actually a 50Hz refresh rate?

Re: Half a picture in 720p

By the way the projector is a Themescene H56, so not strictly 'HD Ready', but supposedly compatible with HD TV signals.

Re: Half a picture in 720p

The H56 says it is 720p compatible, but I remember there was a period where some projectors did not work with 50Hz 720p and 1080i only 60Hz (which is why HD Ready standard came about in EU). I really cannot remember if the H56 was just after this or not

Re: Half a picture in 720p

Hmmm maybe it just wont work then. Still, even a 576p digital feed is loads better than the 576i composite signal I had from my old sky box. Its just a shame that I'm tantalisingly close to a proper HD experience. I guess I might have to save up for a new projector - the HD80 looks good value.

Any idea what the second hand market is like for an H56 - not that good I guess as its not 'HD Ready'.

Re: Half a picture in 720p

And to answer your earlier question, all UK broadcasts are 50Hz.
