Can't get my Lumagen HDP talking to my 55A2000
I recently bought myself a second hand Lumagen HDP to go with my 55A2000 SXRD rear pro TV. Previously I was using Sky HD connected to the TV via HDMI. That worked fine. I'm now connecting Sky HD to the Lumagen with an HDMI-to-DVI cable, and the Lumagen to the same HDMI input on the TV with a DVI-to-HDMI cable. I've also got my Arcam DV27A DVD player (temporarily) connected to the Lumagen via S-Video. (I intend to use a component cable eventually, but haven't bought one yet).
Anyway, the result of doing this is a blank screen on the TV: it doesn't acknowledge that it's receiving a signal at all.
Running the Sky box direct to the same input on the TV works okay, so it's presumably not a fault with Sky or with the TV. (It doesn't work with the DVD player either). I've tried connecting the HDP to a computer monitor using a pure-DVI connection. Using Sky HD as the input this gives me a complaining message about the monitor not being HDCP compliant. Using the DVD player as input, though, I get a very nice picture.
The most obvious conclusion is that my DVI-to-HDMI cable is faulty. However, I have no way of directly testing that, as I don't possess any other device with DVI output. (My home PC is VGA only!) So before I try and return the cable, is there any other reason why the Lumagen might be willing to talk to my monitor but not to my TV, and is there anything I can do about it?
(And would I be better off posting this in the rear-projection forum...?)

I can't answer that at the moment because I'm at work but I'll check this evening.
What ought they to be?
Given that it's a second hand device, ought I really to begin by doing a "reset to factory settings" on it?

Re: Can't get my Lumagen HDP talking to my 55A2000
A factory reset (MENU 0 9 9 9) will give you 480p out. Could be that the box is currently set to a resolution which your TV does not understand (e.g. 768p). If you do a factory reset the factory settings will kick in, but if you don't save it in the reset status then you can power on and off and the last working settings will kick back in.
Or you could just change the output manually with the appropriate menu 0 9 x command e.g. (from memory) MENU 0 2 4 (720p), MENU 0 2 7 might be 1080p. If this doesn't work then factory it, could also be that the thing is doing 24/48 output, could be on analogue output mode (MENU 0 9 3 2 option 4 for fixed pixel output).

DO A FACTORY RESET and then start from scratch. I have set up Lumagens with SXRD rear pro's so you should be able to get it to work

Hope that I havn't sold you a dodgy unit
When I had bought the unit new, I had the same problem, however with help from the Lumagen forums I forced the unit to output 720p via key combinations (I had a blank screen when doing this). Magically my plasma woke up and things were OK, so a reset should be OK (hopefully!).

Re: Can't get my Lumagen HDP talking to my 55A2000
Thanks for the moral support everybody.
Minor domestic crisis meant that I didn't have any time to experiment further yesterday but will try again tonight.
Whatever the problem is, I don't think it's just the resolution: my SXRD is capable of taking at least 576p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p via HDMI. It could, of course, be a combination of resolution and something else (e.g. timing)....
I guess the next question is, how much tweaking do I need to do before I can safely conclude that the problem is a faulty cable?

Re: Can't get my Lumagen HDP talking to my 55A2000
It's alive!
Doing a "reset to factory settings" seems to have done the trick.
I have loads of other Lumagen-related questions, but I think I'll start a new thread later....
