1080p TV - 1080i upscaler - Is it a waste?

I have just bought a panasonic 42" TH42PX70 and am n0w looking for a home cinema system with a budget of around £500.

I spotted the well reviewed Sony DAV-IS10 but it only upscales to 1080i. Is this a bad buy, am i wasting my 1080p tv? Any thoughts would be helpful.

Thanks

well technically yours isnt a 1080p tv anyway it just suports it from a input point of view and down scales it the set itself is only 1024x768 and if your looking at cheap upscaling dvd players like the 60 quid ones knocking around they are all not as great as they seem anyway.

If it is the PX70 it isn't a 1080p television although it will probably accept a 1080p source.

There may be but tbh I haven't seen one, I think if you want an hd player and surround sound you are stuck with a separate amplifier and player at the moment

For £500, get the Tosh EP30 for 190 and a Yamaha AV61 for 200. Won't break the bank and reasonable results.
