1:1 pixel mapping but not at plasmas native res

This has been bugging me for a while so just wanted to see if there was anything wrong with what I've done.

I've setup all my sources through the VP50 using the frame geometry pattern to get an exact 1 pixel border on the screen but in most cases the only way I could adjust it on the VP50 was to add a few more vertical pixels so I'm running at 1024x776 rather than 1024x768. Could not get it to line up any other way. I'm guessing it might be because the plasma was originally ISF'd and pixel matched on my old HD+

I've got no complaints about the picture I'm getting. HD sources look fantastic from Sky or my HTPC. So does it really matter that its not at the native panel res ?

Re: 1:1 pixel mapping but not at plasmas native res

If you are sending 1024 x 776 then it is unlikely you are getting 1:1 mapping. You need to send 1024 x768 to do that. Send that signal to the plasma then, until you have any calibration done, use the SIZE and POS commands on the plasma remote to align and resize the incoming image so that the it is pixel matched.

Re: 1:1 pixel mapping but not at plasmas native res

I'm a bit confused. The output frame geometry pattern is independent of the input, so not sure why you only have this issue on "most sources".

My guess is that the stretch/zoom on the PHD8 is set different for 50Hz than 60Hz inputs which is why it's looking slightly different. Certainly on my panel, "XGA" chosen from the output res menu then a slight tweak of horizontal position (on the vp50) was all I needed to do when using RGBHV. When I changed to use HDMI into a VGA converter then the whole image jumped left about 40 pixels and I had to use a combination of the horiz pos on both the vp50 and the PHD8 but it still fitted perfectly to the frame at 1024x768.

Have you used the horizontal & vertical line test patterns to make sure there's no phasing of the image? I get a tiny, tiny bit of it even with the native res but I put that down to it being an analog signal as shifting the image size by even one pixel produces a much worse "interference pattern" for want of a better word.

while we're on the subject... on-screen test patterns while you're adjusting settings are such a lovely feature of the vp30/50. I expect most processors have the same though.

Re: 1:1 pixel mapping but not at plasmas native res

bugger

I was trying to leave the panel alone. Guess i'll have to go through all the settings again.

I can see some interference on the line pattern. I did ask about it on another thread but nobody replied

Thankyou
